ALUMINUM IMPACT EXTRUSION

Near-net-shape aluminum extrusion expertise

Streamline your parts production. We have the experience, equipment, and expertise to produce highly technical and difficult-to-manufacture aluminum components with near-net shape extrusions backed by a range of finishing options.

Process for success

Aluminum impact extrusion quickly creates near-net shape parts that lower the total cost of production while improving quality. Our process is backed by decades of experience and on-site tool and die expertise. We can accelerate project timelines while reducing material waste and costs.

Precise parts, complete customer satisfaction

Aluminum impact extrusions are known for their tight tolerances, strength, concentricity, straightness along the length of the extrusion, and service life. Our in-house team of experienced engineers makes it all possible. We provide design-for-manufacturability services, creating processes to meet cost, quality, and delivery demands. We use advanced finite element analysis to optimize our tool designs.

Invested in technology to support your needs

Thunderbird Metals can produce small- and large-envelope extrusions at high volumes. We use hydraulic and mechanical presses, the largest currently being a 3,300-ton automated press. Our rotary transfer machine capabilities assure we produce tight-tolerance parts at high speeds. Supporting operations such as heat-treating and automated lubrication are optimized to support the sheer volume of products processed each year. We ensure the quality of our parts using high-tech measuring machines and rigorous first- and last-piece inspections.
